Founded in 1926, Northwest Airlines
was originally known as Northwest
Airways. Northwest Airlines
has its headquarters in Minnesota.
Its main hub is Detroit Metro

contend with labor issues from

Airlines
The year it was founded in Texas,
Continental Airlines was known
as Varney Speed Lines in 1934.
The name change to Continental
occurred just a few years later
in 1937. Continental is based
in Houston Texas, and its main
hub is also located there. Other
major hubs for Continental Airlines
include Newark and Cleveland.
Continental is regularly tapped
as one of the top airlines to
fly in the United States, and
has hubs that include Newark
and Houston.

Canada
Founded in 1937, Air Canada
was originally known as TCA
- Trans Canada Airlines. Although
it has been a private company
since the 1980s, it was previously
owned by the government as a
crown corporation. Air Canada
has its headquarters in Montreal.
Its main hub is Lester Pearson
International Airport in Toronto.
Its other major hubs are in
Montreal and Vancouver. Canada's
flagship carrier serves both
domestic and international routes,
and is one of the five founding
members of Star Alliance along
with United Airlines.

Airlines
Alaska Airlines began as McGee
Airways in 1932, changing its
name to Alaska in 1944. Alaska
Airlines does not have its headquarters
in that state, rather in Seattle,
Washington. Its main hub is
also in Seattle, along with
Anchorage. Alaska Airlines has
a long history of serving the
north.

Skywest was founded in 1972.
Skywest is based in Utah, and
its main hubs are the ones for
Delta, United and Midwest. Skywest
serves as a regional airline
for airlines such as Delta and
United.
